What's a PLE?

I was asked this question yesterday and realised it is a good time to share Graham Attwell entertaining rant in scoping a definition for Personal Learning Environments.

If you like his style then I'd also recommend checking out his Blog, Pontydysgu : the bridge to learning where he covers issues like open-source, open-content, open-standards, e-learning.

Not bad. He lost me a little when he showed the ELG flow diagram to counter the SCORM thing. Mainly because ELG is an application, along with all the ePortfolio merchants. So a slight contradiction to the main point he was driving really well.

This video by Downes is useful in the same vein.

I enjoyed this slide show. It has helped confirm what I already thought - a PLE is not a specific tool but a mash of everything I do on the net. Particularly enjoyed being reminded about the importance of informal learning.
